This course provides students with a historical overview of the field of marriage and family therapy. Philosophical underpinnings and fundamental concepts will be introduced. Influential studies and their present-day ramifications will be reviewed. The course will challenge students to integrate Adlerian principles and perspectives with foundational family systems theories, concepts, and models. Lastly, this course will assist students to cultivate the professional identity of a marriage and family therapist.
